Our mission
East Berlin Parks and Recreation, along with the non-profit Healthy Eastern Adams Rails & Trails (HEART) are working to fund a comprehensive master plan for a 30-acre tract of woods in East Berlin, known locally as Kuhns Woods. This parcel, owned by East Berlin, will hopefully soon serve as a new location for passive outdoor recreation and the area's first rail-trail.

His deep connections with businesses, churches, institutions, elected officials and community stakeholders was instrumental in establishing HEART and assisting in its work, research and actions leading to the current initiatives at the municipal and county level.
Shelly Livingston, Secretary
A 46-year resident of Hamilton Township, Shelly brought insight to the Board of Directors regarding the lands/owners of property along the proposed rail trail. Her social connections with members of the township as well as the borough has greatly enlightened the board as it proceeds with an initiative spanning both borough and township. Her tireless time, knowledge dedicated to the community and its institutions has benefited many of the region’s residents from a wide spectrum of backgrounds. She’s our ambassador to Hamilton Township.
Lee-Ann Brown, Director
Having grown up just south of the borough in Hamilton Township and currently living in the borough, she is a young, active community member working to make East Berlin a better, pedestrian/bicycle-friendly community. Her expertise in construction law brings valuable knowledge of procedure, protocol, and process to the park, and trail land physical development.
Her knowledge and development of HEART’s social media platforms greatly get the community connected by way of the current digital/internet means and assures the board of reaching all of the region’s residents, businesses, and institutions.
